Yourname.com Marketing Strategy

Posted By Karen on January 17, 2010

Well, I finally did it! I created the website I should have started out with. It’s the site leading to all my other sites. It’s now the center of my writing universe…okay, you get it.

I’ve read, heard and have been told a number of times that it’s essential for a writer to have a website with his/her name. If you think about, while your struggling to create your brand/platform, what’s the most important element? YOU! That’s right, no matter what you do, what your promoting, you are the center of your platform.

So, today’s tip:

If you haven’t already done it, create a site that cannot be mistaken for anything or anyone else, a site that is unique unto you…your name.

Just a side note: The last couple of days I’ve been working on my sites and ebooks. It’s been one problem after another. Well, creating this new site was no exception.

I already have a primary domain with BlueHost, it’s the DKV Writing 4 U site. And, I had already purchased the domain name Karen Cioffi with them, but I didn’t know how to make that domain active and I didn’t know if I’d have to pay another monthly web hosting fee. So, I had to contact BlueHost. I have to say just about every support tech there is great, and it’s 24/7 support. But, their read-for-yourself documentation has much to be desired. It had no info for my problem – I think it’s geared toward a more tech savvy web creator.

I always try to find the answers to my problems before I bother any site’s support team. I finally got the info I needed and found out that I can have a second, entirely separate, site under my primary domain site. So, this new site is only costing $10 per year for the name!

Anyway, another day spent on tech stuff and NO writing, but I did get the site up and running. It’s still under construction and hope to have it complete within a month.

I’m smiling – I always give myself plenty of time to accomplish things…less stress!

Ah, one more thing that had to be accomplished almost done! And, I’m getting better at website creation. The cup is always at least half full.

If you’d like to check my new site out, go to:

If you stop by, I’d like to know what you think of it. But, remember, it’s still under construction!

Until next time,

Karen
