Finally, the Contact Page is Done!

Posted By on May 18, 2009

Boy, that may seem like a simple statement to many, but for those new at using wordpress as a website builder it’s a great feat.

It actually took about a week before I figured out why my Contact Form 7 wouldn’t work. This is the form that allows visitors to email us with a message.

I read all the WordPress Codex documents on the topic I could find and I submitted two posts to the WordPress forum. I just couldn’t get an answer.

Then, when you go to one document, there are about ten others you can link to so this project became very time consuming and frustrating – interesting, but tiring.

Finally, today I found a document – I think it was in Codex (Quick Start Guide) – that I thought might work. A simple little thing that I was doing wrong, but before today I just couldn’t find this information.

So, what was the time consuming, frustrating, stupid thing I was doing wrong? Well, instead of copying and pasting the one line saved CF7 name (the title of the contact form), I was copying and pasting the html code that was visible below it. I guess the techs preparing the instructions for products or services don’t realize that us ‘green’ users who know nothing about the product/service at all, need those idiotic simple details!

I would have saved days of searching if CF7 or WP added one simple little sentence: Copy and paste the title of that form onto your page , not the html code below in the text box.

The cup is always half full, though, it gave me something to write about!
