Don’t Click That Button!

Posted By Karen on May 9, 2009

Thought I’d share a little tip:

After you’ve created your WordPress site do not go back into Settings: General and change the WordPress url address!

I did this and corrupted my site. Thank goodness for James at Bluehost who restored the site back to the way it was before my HUGE, HORRIBLE, and POSSIBLE TIME AND EFFORT CONSUMING  mistake.

Once you enter that url in the General Settings that is where all your files are stored – Do Not Attempt to Change It.

I do think WordPress should have an alert notice/flag in the event a newbie at WordPress, like me, attempts something stupid.

Live and Learn!

I hosted my site with BlueHost.com. Cheap pricing good features. But Blue host lacked behind in customer-support. My email were answered after 2-3 days. They must improve it. Later I transferred my web hosting account to SuperM.com

Wow, Sonam, that’s surprising. When I called Bluehost with my problem I got a customer service rep right away and he helped me right there and then. I stupidly changed my wordpress files address and crashed my site. The rep restored it for me.

Maybe, with emails they are slower?
